Conditioning:
We start each day with conditioning exercises to get the body warmed up and make campers stronger! Every day, we do conditioning at a different gymnastics apparatus to keep the muscles and mind challenged and having fun!
Gymnastics Class:
Every day we spend an hour in class. We visit a new gym space each day, visiting all apparatus at least once over the course of the week. Coaches will adapt for each gymnast’s particular skill level, so each athlete will be challenged, no matter their age or group.
Open Gym:
Gymnasts get free time in the gymnastics center, for work or play – they decide!
Cross-Training:
Every day, we spend an hour out doing some athletic activity. It’s not gymnastics, but it’s good for the body to work its muscles in other ways to keep fit and have fun.
Technique:
Gymnastics is full of fancy flips and tricks, but all that fancy won’t look so fancy if we forget about the small stuff! Technique is a time to focus on the details, not just what you’re doing, but HOW you are executing your tricks.
Flexibility:
Gymnasts need to be flexible in order to do upper-level tricks well. We alternate each day between active stretching exercises (engaging muscles in their range of motion) and passive stretching (holding still in a position, resting in a stretch).
Routine Work:
Each athlete will work on an individual routine on their chosen pieces apparatus that will then be filmed to be shared with families at the end of the week.
Skill Drills:
Back to basics! We spend a half hour doing the most basic gymnastics skills over and over and over and over. Practice makes perfect!
